چکیده

The Lamb shift in hydrogen spectrum is obtained here in the framework of some weak generalization of the classical Maxwell electrodynamics. It is shown that weakly generalized classical Maxwell electrodynamics can describe the intra-atomic phenomena with the same success as relativistic quantum mechanics can do. Group-theoretical grounds for the description of fermionic states by bosonic system are presented briefly. The advantages of generalized electrodynamics in intra-atomic region in comparison with standard Maxwell electrodynamics are demonstrated on testing example of hydrogen atom. We are able to obtain some results which are impossible in the framework of standard Maxwell electrodynamics. The Sommerfeld–Dirac formula for the fine structure of the hydrogen atom spectrum is obtained on the basis of such Maxwell equations without appealing to the Dirac equation. The Bohr postulates are proved to be the consequences of the equations under consideration. The relationship of the new model with the Dirac theory is investigated. Possible directions of unification of such electrodynamics with gravity are mentioned.

Generation of Nonclassical States of the Radiation Field in the System of a Single Trapped Atom in a Cavity within the First Order of the Lamb-Dicke Approximation

In this paper, we propose a theoretical scheme for the generation of non-classical states of the cavity field in a system of a single trapped atom via controlling the Lamb-Dicke parameter. By exploiting the super-operator method, we obtain an analytical expression for the density operator of the system by which we examine the dynamical behaviors of the atomic population inversion, the phase-spa...

Hydrogen atom spectrum and the lamb shift in noncommutative QED.

We have calculated the energy levels of the hydrogen atom as well as the Lamb shift within the noncommutative quantum electrodynamics theory. The results show deviations from the usual QED both on the classical and the quantum levels. On both levels, the deviations depend on the parameter of space/space noncommutativity.

Spontaneous Emission Spectrum from a Driven Three-Level Atom in a Double-Band Photonic Crystal

Abstract The spontaneous emission spectrum from a driven three-level atom placed inside a double-band photonic crystal has been investigated. We use the model which assumes the upper levels of the atomic transition are coupled via a classical driving field. The transition from one of the upper levels to lower level couples to the modes of the modified reservoir, and the transition from the oth...

Observation of the Phononic Lamb Shift with a Synthetic Vacuum

In contrast to classical empty space, the quantum vacuum fundamentally alters the properties of embedded particles. This paradigm shift allows one to explain the discovery of the celebrated Lamb shift in the spectrum of the hydrogen atom. Here, we engineer a synthetic vacuum, building on the unique properties of ultracold atomic gas mixtures, offering the ability to switch between empty space a...
